BEWARE!!!! PHONE THIEVES NOW HAVE A NEW METHOD. READ DETAILS BELOW
Please if anyone approaches you asking you to lend them your phone to make an urgent call decline. Yes I know that there are genuine ones that have need but how do we know them? So to me prevention is better than cure.
Some time in January I went to the Fidelity ATM at Abuja campus University of Port Harcourt to withdraw some money by some minutes past 9 pm. As I was withdrawing my money a young man accosted me from a waiting vehicle pleading with me to let him use my phone to make a call to someone that he didn't have airtime on his phone and he could not withdraw nor recharge with his atm. Ever had that feeling where you really wanted to help someone but the Spirit in your spirit totally refuses that help from going forth from you. I simply and politely declined him that help and moved away.
Today, my neighbour returned from school looking gloomy and sad. I asked her what happened and to my amazement she told me how her phone was robbed. Read the story below and decide what you would do. The new method has these patterns as explained below.
Penultimate Friday the 4th of March 2016 by 5pm,
close to the University of Port Harcourt Mechatronics lab in the same Abuja campus, a shabby looking guy approached her meekly begging her to use her phone to call someone urgently. She accepted but told him she had no airtime on that phone. He pleaded and asked her to borrow airtime from mtn. Out of a human heart, she obliged, borrowed the credit and gave him the phone.
The strange Beggar walked on as he made his call to the imaginary person while the lady tried to follow him thinking he had forgotten himself. He walked on straight to a waiting red vehicle which had some scary looking guys that drove fear through her spine. They gave her the "get the hell Outta here before something bad happens to you kinda look". She understood and left. While the also left calmly with her phone.
Helping out is good but you need wisdom not to lose your phone.
