Unsatisfied with this judgement, the then Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Supo Sasore (SAN), prompted the state government to take the case to the Lagos State High Court.
This saw to the upturning of the fine and the consequent issuing of a fresh sentense of 5 year jail term to Ibinabo on charges of dangerous and reckless driving.
The matter was taken before a high court and some strong powers delayed till 2016.
Power finally changed hands at the centre, judges seem to be clearing up case files faster these days.
On Friday however, the matter came up again and the High court upheld the decision to the appeal court. Vanguard reported that In a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Jamilu Yammama Tukur the court held that the trial Magistrate Court lacked the discretion to grant Ibinabo option of fine having been convicted. The Court further held that the appeal lacked merit and thereby dismissed it accordingly. Other members of the panel are Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu (Mrs.) (presiding) and Justice Tijani Abubakar respectively. You can READ MORE here.
This means that if Ibinabo loses at the supreme court also, this beauty would spend five years in prison for a crime committed 10 years ago..
