THE ESE ORURU STORY.... QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR SECURITY AND LAW (CONSTITUTION VS SHARIA)
The Preamble
That faithful day, the 12th day of August 2015 to be precise started as a normal day but portended serious ill will for the struggling family of a Delta State born teenager.Ese Oruru a 13 year old school girl, until her abduction resided in Opolo community of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State went to school with her peers and sibblings, returned home and according to her father, Mr Oruru, she traditionally went to the market to her mother's wares. The day however did not end as a normal day because unlike other times, miss Oruru did not return home with her siblings. She went missing.
After diligent search and a streak of sheer luck, the mother went back to the Mallams (Aboki) who were her primary customers, only to be greeted with the story of Yanusa's abduction of the said teenager by his fellow Nothern Muslim (Boko Haram Divide And conquer Style).

Yanusa had allegedly fore planned the elopement with the said under aged teen before that day; this was evident in how he had sold his tricycle ( Keke napep), closed his business and told his friends about his plans to relocate to Kano with his new loot.

The said Mallam was traced by the girl's parents and the police to Kano since last year, the child bride was located and after due consultation with the Sharia Court and the Emir's palace, it was decided that since Ese Oruru was only 13 (Adult age is 16 for Islam) she had no right to be married off without her parent's consent, the little girl be freed and handed over to the police and her parent to be returned to Bayelsa. However standing upon the same impunity with which she was abducted from her parents, impregnated and converted by these Sharia proponents, the orders of the Emir's council and the police were flagrantly flouted and she wasn't released all these while until it took the intervention of Senator Murray Bruce, Oby Ezekwesili, Ankio Briggs and other right activists and twitter warriors through the #FreeEseOruru hashtag to catch the attention of the public to the ills of the child trafficking, forced marriage and abduction.
Free At Last
Today however, after much legal, verbal and pressure battles, the Bride was released to rejoin her family in Bayelsa. Thanks to the Inspector General of Police for delving into the matter and rescuing the abductee. There was a recent video showing the child bride in Hijab crying and refusing to enter the police van without her abductor. Some people watched and said the young lady had given her consent. Faulty reasoning... We have to establish that the lady still retained her sanity through all these ordeal. We need to prove that there is no charm or still working on her. The prosecutors need to examine the girl thoroughly and find out what threats and lies the man had meted out to her young heart. I read of a grown uup married woman that was a sex slave for an imam for more than 10 years because he threatened to kill her husband the day she refuses him sex (Using a devil to fight a demon) LOLA 13 year has no business getting married. She's Pregnant for God's sake, alone, unsure and insecure hence her refusal to go with the police without her temporary source of familiarity.

The Questions
This story provokes the following questions in my mind:
1. How solid is our homeland security and interstate borders monitoring? A man successfully traveled with a minor from Bayelsa to Kano without being accosted. Bombs and weapons can also travel freely too
2. What law should we adhere to in Nigeria? The Constitution defines adulthood as 18, Sharia says 16.
3. If we follow both Sharia and the Nigerian constitution what will be the yardstick for punishing someone who defiles a minor?
4. Why will a man's personal beliefs over rule the police's legitimacy to operate. This question arises because for the past 7 months, the police knew where Esse was. They dared not go in and rescue her but were afraid and had to wait till the outrage and outcry was louder than their fears.
5. How many girls daily are forced from their normal lives, schools and education and turned to brides in our Nigeria Society?
6. Where is her right to freedom of worship when u abduct her and turn her to worship after your beliefs in a forceful manner.
While we follow the story and see if this man would be let off the hook because of his religious inclination, i want the prosecutors to take this girl to a strong Pastor to release her from the obvious influence of diabolic manipulations and hypnosis.
